Note: This review only covers Episode 1 of KirePapa.
Having recently watched KirePapa, I found the show to be extremely adorable and quirky, a must see for those of you who dislike angsty yaoi with rape scenes and the like.
Like a squirt of lemon in coke, KirePapa is refreshing in its light hearted humor and pleasing artwork. Storyline wise it follows the traditional recipe of most yaoi anime. But who can complain about that?
I mean there's your beautiful, conniving but painfully innocent uke dad whose troubled past makes him overly protective of his cute son and then there's the super tall for his age, suave seme who is best friends with the uke dad's son!
Throw in those two, a mindless and unrealistic plot about authors (you know... the kind you only get from yaoi manga) and pleasing art work, and you get this highly enjoyable piece of yaoi anime.
It deserves an B+ because well, for one thing the kissing scenes are HOT (at the risk of sounding too graphic!) what with all that lovely amount of slurping and moaning from the lip clashing to get you higher than a kite, much unlike other animes with unrealistic sounds! The same goes for the love making scene and though short, it provides with just the right amount of steaminess.
Besides that, the anime excels voice acting-wise. I agree with Zoe Marriott on this one, Takahiro Sakurai's whispers sends shivers down ones spine!
But the bit that takes the cherry on the cake is the pleasantly surprising confession at the ending because the dialogue in it is one of the sweetest I've ever known!
That being said KirePapa is a good watch, so what're you waiting for? Go watch it!!!
